Take this amazing journey through the desert, experiencing patches of tropical paradise along the way, arriving at your destination of Alice Springs - the Red Cente! DAY 1: Leaving Alice Springs, we head north. First stop is the Tropic of Capricorn Monument then on through the vast outback to Native Gap for some photos opportunities and an insight into local indigenous history and culture. Ti Tree is an opportunity to visit the Red Sands Gallery for unique indigenous gifts and souvenirs. We set up camp for the night at Wauchope, before heading out on a sunset drive to the Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu) then a BBQ dinner. DAY 2: Up early, once on the road, we pass through Tennant Creek, the last Gold Rush town in Australia. Threeways Road Junction, with lunch at Renner Springs Roadhouse. Then off again to Newcastle Waters to view the Drovers Monument. On to the site of Australia's first International Air Field at Daly Waters before we roll into Mataranka Homestead to set up camp for the night. At Mataranka, made famous in the book We of the Never Never, you can swim in the thermal springs which maintain a constant temperature of 34 degrees Celsius. Check out aquatic wildlife from the banks of the Roper River and after dinner there is a guided night tour of the local wildlife. DAY 3: After an early morning dip in Bitter Springs we take in a guided tour of Cutta Cutta Caves look out for bats! We stop in Katherine and then lunch and a swim at Edith Falls. We cruise to Adelaide River (home of Australia's largest war cemetery) then onto Darwin to arrive at approximately 5pm. (The above itinerary is the Alice Springs to Darwin trip. Darwin to Alice Springs is similar but in reverse. Departs Darwin from 7am and arrive Alice Springs on Day 3 at approximately 1pm.)
