The Tour stars from your hotel at 9.30am travelling in a luxury Limousine for a leisurely day tasting wine at Australia's premier cool-climate wine region. As we amble our way through the City, your guide will give you a brief description of the history of Adelaide and point out some of the highlights that we may encounter on our journey to the Adelaide Hills. Once in the Hills, you may want to take in the panoramic view of Adelaide from Mt Lofty summit, or visit Cleland Wildlife Park, our first tasting is at Petaluma, which is the cellar door for the well-known Bridgewater Flour Mill. We then go for a casual drive to Hahndorf; you may want to go for a stroll through this historic German village settled in the 1840s. Lunch will be at the German Arms Hotel (a main meal of your choice & a glass of wine is included in the tour), we then venture on and explore what the rest of the Adelaide Hills has to offer. Our next stop is at Maximilian's, Shaw & Smith, Nepenthe, Johnston, Bird in Hand, Howard's Vineyard or Tilbrook Estate to name but a few. Fancy discovering a new boutique winery or choose your own destinations ~ for Wine or Reason will take you there! In the Adelaide Hills, you'll find South Australia's oldest wine region with more than 50 wineries continuing a tradition that started way back in 1845. Today, some of Australia's most elegant cool climate sparkling and still wines are produced in the region, from grape varieties including Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, for the production of sparkling and table wines from the coolest areas; Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot are in the slightly warmer areas; and Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz are in the lower altitudes. Twenty-five cellar doors offer wine tasting and sales. Mt Lofty is the highest point south of the Flinders Ranges.
